We have begun letting our male cat who is 10 years old outside. He and the younger female seem to have issues and he is much happier outside all day. This past thursday night when he came in we noticed his right front paw was a bit swollen. The friday morning he began limping and favors it when sitting. We look for any bite, but couldn't find any. Today we found that when we put pressure on the pad he begins to get agitatied. No sign of a wound in the area. Any suggestions on what it might be? Thanks in advance.

possibly a shard of glass that has caused an infection, a claw torn down to the quick and infected or maybe a sprained tendon in the foot or a broken bone?

I think a trip to the vet is your only option on this one but in the meantime try bathing his foot in warm salt water that will help if their is any infection present.
