I was wondering if cats normally have a "bump" or protrusion that can be felt when petting their mane or chest area? I was petting my cat and just noticed this. I cannot recall noticing it before. If it is not normal, what can it be? Should I see my vet ? IP: Logged |

Since I am not there to feel what you are feeling I can only suggest the follwoing possibilities. A "bump" found down low on the chest, between the front legs to the center, I would suspect is the sternum. One found up higher, to the left or right could either be a cracked rib, healing, or some sort of growth on the bone which I would have checked out ASAP. Lastly, if the spot is very soft and not firm or hard as the baove would be, it could be an abcess, a subsubascious cyst, or even a fatty deposite...common if the cat is fixed, older, and will feel rather soft and can be rather large. Hope this helps. IP: Logged |
