i got a new cat she's about a year old and she won't go to the potty...drink water or eat her food. i've tried different food but nothing is working. i also have 2 other cats 1 loves her and the other doesn't want her invading her territory. i'm really worried what should i do?

Dear Misty,
Did your new cat look healthy and well fed when you brought her home? If so, she is probably just taking a while to adjust to her new surroundings- which I can only imagine can be quite terrifying to any animal. Provide her with her own place in your home with her own food/water bowls and litter until she feels comfortable (also talk to her alot and let her know how glad you are to have her there.) If possible, talk to the people who housed her last to find out what she enjoys eating and a bit more about her personality. How long has it been since she has eaten? Though the name escapes me now, there is a very serious condition that can develop in cats who have not eaten- if it has been more than 2 or 3 days- I would consult a vet and perhaps buy some nutritional gel until she regains her appetite. Good luck to you and your new house mate!
