Does anyone know of a good cat food brand that will really help cats get back to a healthy weight? IP: Logged |

Do you free feed? If so I would recommend feeding measured out meals instead. You can also try a lower calorie food....not a "lite" or a diet food just a regular food with lower calories. My fat cat lost weight when I switched him from Innova (537 Calories/cup) to California Natural (393 Calories/cup) but continued to feed the same amount. How much food and what brand is your cat currently eating? Canned food instead of dry may help also according to the lastest I've been reading. Increasing your cats activity will also help...I found that a lazer pointer works great to increase my cats activity. Here's an a link: http://home.earthlink.net/~jacm2/_wsn/page3.html If you scroll down you can read what a vet wrote about obesity in cats and food. IP: Logged |

Forgot to add - Any weight loss should be slow...cats can get very sick if they lose weight rapidly. You may want to ask for your vet's advice on how to feed for safe, gradual weight loss just to play it safe. Good luck. IP: Logged |
