I'm sad you have to see your cat so sick. It;s always hard to know when to "let go". Kidney failure doesn't, unfortunately, get better. When she stops eating, is weak and lethargic, then there;s not much you can do. It's hard to act when the cat is still responsive in some way. Is she? Trust your instincts on this. You know her better than anyone else, better than the vet. If she is no longer responding to you, then it's probably time. If possible, when and if you have to put her to sleep, some vets will come to YOUR place and do it there, which is much less stressful for the kitty... rather than having to travel with her to the vet.
There's not much I can say to make this difficult decision easier. Just know we're all cat-lovers on this forum and manyif not most of us have faced what you are facing at this time. You sound like a great owner: compassionate and caring, not wanting it to go too long in case she suffers. Whatever you decide is okay. Again, the day will come and you'll just "know".
