My cat has alot of emotional problems. She was declawed by her previous owners and beat up constantly by their other cat, resulting with a timid behaviour problem. She is doing much better now, but she still gets scared of the silliest things. Mainly, she is scared of the ceiling fan. If I turn it on and she sees it, she won't leave the bedroom for at least 4 hours. I really want to use it, as I got it this past summer, but have only had it on a few times. I've already tried just leaving it on all day, but she still won't come out until it's been off for at least 4 hours. I've even tried holding her and petting her while it's on, but I'm honestly afraid she'll have a heart attack or something, as she gets so scared. Has anyone ever had a problem like this? A much as I may laugh when I read your post, I know it isn't funny. My cat is also afriad of the oddest things such as balloons, ceiling lights resembling balloons, any kind of household chore that may result in the vaccuum coming out (which can include making the bed), any other person besides myself, the TV, surround sound, let me tell you the list is endless. As much as I tried to expose her to her fears, I only succeeded in scaring her more. I wish I can say I had some wonderful cure for this but I don't. It seems that my kitty, in her 5 years of age has calmed down and become the tinest bit braver. I am hoping this will continue.... If you hear of anything that may help, please share! Hi- I'm the person who sent a private email to cozmikgirl.. My theory about the ceiling fan was that the kitty is probably afraid of the movement of the blades as opposed to the sound, and I suggested an air-conditioner.! IP: Logged |
