I am house sitting and the resident cat just threw up. It wasnt a furball and there was a small amount of grass in it. Its been an hour - and it hasnt thrown up again. I know nothing about cats - how long should I let it continue before seeing a vet?

It is actually quite common for cats to sometimes throw up hairballs. I woulnt worry about getting her to the vet.

Sorry, I misread your post.Though it said there was a furball in it.
Its also common for animals to sometimes throw up after eating grass because the sharp "blades" on grass irritate their intestinal lining causing them to vomit. Shouldnt be anything to worry about.
