My 10-week old kitten suddenly stopped walking. Last night after work, I noticed she wasn't using her right front leg. However, she was still running around the house, playing, on three legs and acted completely normal otherwise. Today, she is barely walking at all. She's slept all day. She has ate and gone to the bathroom but nothing else. Now it seems like all of her feet/legs (?) are tender... What could possibly be wrong??? We've felt her legs, shoulders, paws, etc. and nothing seems out of the ordinary and she doesn't cry when we touch her so I'm thinking it must not hurt to the touch. Please, any advice???

Do you have any other cats in the house? Maybe they were roughhousing a bit much. One of my kittens came up limping for a couple of days - same thing, acting normal on the three good legs and didn't seem to be hurting. He was much better after a couple of days, though. He plays pretty rough with his playmates and his toys!

Sarah - the exact same thing happened to my kitten. When I woke up this morning I noticed my 3 month old kitten wasn't using his right front paw much. He has let me examine it and I don't feel anything funny and nothing caused him specific pain when I was touching. I don't know what it is either! I am hoping in a few days he'll be back to normal.

I would take your kitten to the vet just to be safe. I had a cat that all of a sudden was unable to use his back legs. He didn't cry and didn't seem in pain. However, I immediately took him to the vet to find out that he had thrown a blood clot and was paralysed. Based on his blood plessure and dilated eyes, the vet said he was in extreme pain. She said not all cats cry when they are in pain because they are in such shock. To make a long story short, we ended up having to put him to sleep due to his extreme pain. Please take the little one to the vet and don't wait. He or she could be in a lot of unnecessary pain.

Anyway, the vet found that she was running a pretty high fever, which was in turn creating pain in her joints. She has been on an antibiotic since Sat. morning and just yesterday her fever finally broke. This morning she was even up walking much more normal. Thank you for all your info and I hope this all helps someone else if they are in the same situation!
