My 1 year old male tabby has a problem -- he rips up the carpet in the doorway of my bedroom when I have the door closed. Any tips and/or explanations for this?

My Persians tend to do this as well, and I keep the nails cut every 7-10 days, and have the scatter doorway mats that are remnants really with the bonded edges, you can buy at Walmart or the like for cheap. They are hard and to the job of prevention! To repair the doorway from a Dobie pup once, I went and cut a piece of the wall to wall out of the corner of one of my closets and glued it in place. You can't tell! Hope this helps...oh what we do for the love of animals!

My Cats use to do this but i bought them a scratching post.. At first they didnt seem interested but everytime they started to scratch somewhere else. I took them over to the post and made them scratch. Remember to do it directly afterwards and be patient. Cats tend to have a mind of their owns and it could take a while, since they determine if they want to learn..

Ain't that the truth...have one who absolutely refuses the scratch post I bought, and the other tears into it like crazy!
