One more question.
Kiwi, my parakeet, isn't coming on my finger. I think my mom made him scared of hands when she kept putting her hand in too fast, and it made him frightened. I've been trying to put my hand in very slowly, while whistling to him and talking to him calmy. I know you have to be patient.
Can parakeets be taught to come on fingers? How long does it take? Do you have any suggestions on how to get him to be less scared of the finger?
Thanks! Please help!

I've had my 1st parakeet (also my 1st bird) for about 5 weeks, so I don't really know a lot but:
How I got my parakeet use to my hands was I would just put my hand in her cage a little and leave it there while I talked to her. Then I'd put it in a bit ferther each time.
Also I didn't try to catch her every time I put my hand in. I would mess with on of her toys or something, just so she realized that just because my hand was coming in didn't mean that it was going strait for her.
Hope that helps.
Good Luck!!
