hi there. to sex a cockatiel can sometimes be hard the males orange cheek patches are brighter than that of the female whose is dull, both should be about 18months before allowed to breed..

then there is why do you want to breed your bird? becasue you dont know how to sex the birds says to me that you have no breeding experience..

breeding any animal is soomething that should be thought through and researched there is so many different problems that can arise...

do you have the money to take your bird to an avian vet if it needs it? do you have time to feed a neglected or abandoned baby cockatiel as they need feeding round the clock and its hard work i am currently doing this with my 12day old cockatiel.

there can be problems from egg binding in the hen bird some animals are natural parents and some just wont deal with young.

i will leave it upto the other people to see what there views are as we all have different idea's on things like this but breeding shouldnt be taking lightly
