I got my baby parakeet about a month ago for my b-day. We were getting along really great & I think she really trusts me. Because one day I let her out and she just crawled all over me and sat on my shoulder. That was the first time I had ever had her out. That was about 5 days ago.
Now for the past 2-3 days when I change her food and water, or put my hand in her cage she bites my fingers. Even if I just hold them outside the cage she tries to bite them.

Please help me, this is my first bird & I really have no idea what I'm doing!

i have the same problem with one of my cockatiels i have found that if i dont talk to her enough or let her out enough when i do put my hands in she bites me not an agressive bite but its like i gentle nip...

your bird could have also been startled when you went to change her food.
the more you handle and let your bird out she will become used to this and she will quieten down again she could be frustrated being in the cage after being let out keep us posted on her progress

Thanks for replying charmedagain, I think that not paying enough attention to my bird might be part of it. Yesterday I let her out again & she sat on my leg for abit and talked to her for awhile & she didn't try to bit me for awhile.
But later I stuck my hand in her cage to move one of her toys that had fallen and she bit my finger again & this time it was pretty hard.
How can I discourage her from biting? It is really annoying & now its getting painful.

it can be quite annoying when ine moment your birds is sweet and the next it turns to biting my cockaitiel is ok now that she has other cockatiels and budgies to interact with but can still be nippy. from what i can tell she only bites hen she is in her cage this is her protecting her space some birds get used to hands being put in but others just never change. regular handling should be enough to stop her doing this i would keep putting my hand in her cage she should soon realise your there to keep her happy not to hurt her while locked up keep us posted of her progress .
ps it can take some time for a bird to stop biting
