Hey there everybody! I just have a quick question to ask. I am training my cinnamon pearl, male, Cockatiel, Buddy to talk. I have recorded my self for 5 minutes saying "hello mommy". I have just started today and I played it 2x to equal 10 minutes. Then I let him ponder it for 5 minutes and I put him back in his cage. I am going to do the same thing again in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Do you think this is an adequate amount of time to be training? 15 minutes twice a day? If so, how long do you reckon it will take? Thanks for your help and any suggestions or information will be appreciated!

Hey, well I had a budgie and I teached him to say pepsi bird. First of all you have to make sure your bird is interested in what your saying and that your bird likes to hear that for example when your bird heres this fraze does he come over to the place where he hears it because that shows that he is interested. But if he isn't interested he isn't going to say it believe me. And it might take about 4 weeks and up as i said depeneds how he likes the phrase hope that helps.

Hi, Just read your posting about teaching your bird to talk. I have heard that the best way to teach a bird to talk is to sit with it in its cage directly in front of you in a darkened room with a cover over part of the cage and only a candle lit nearby so that all the bird has to focus on is you and your voice without other distractions. Just repeat the phrase you want him to learn a number of times, and give him a chance to try and mimmick you. If you do this often enuf, he will learn quickly. The key is to not have anyone else around or anything going on that will distract him. I did this with a parakeet, and in a month he was saying a few words. Unfortunately, he was a gift for someone else, and once I turned him over to them he got no further teachings.
Good luck, and enjoy your baby whether it talks or not!
