Hi jenny, I have a african grey myself is now 17 yrs old. I got her when she was 3 months old and was still be hand fed. What they do is surgerically sex them For myself I really didnt care but I know that sometimes you can tell by the shape of their eyes. Until 1999 I did not know until SHE layed 3 eggs. I have to laugh at this due to the fact that, one day my sons friend came over, Tiker was acting all odd like she really liked this guy, I mean putting on a show, well 3 days later, 3 eggs. Well everytime she saw this person lol she layed more and more eggs. Well since I do not have a male, I finally told his friend lol he cant come into the house cuz poor tiker lays too many eggs. Keyword in African Grey I am sure you will find lots of info on them. By the way Tiker said her first word at 5 months old....she said hi ))))
Well good luck and as with me you will have a good friend for a very long time to come..
