How do you tell the difference between a male and female cockatiel? Mine is very loud, whistles a song, whistles at us, says a couple of words. Does that mean he's definetly male? (My daughter gave her a female name.) IP: Logged |

you dont say how old the bird is so if its a baby and less then six months old you will have to wait till he or she molts at six months. Though if its older then six months its very easy to tell male from female. Now the male has a yellow face and orange big dots of his cheeks and if a girl the face is all grey with yellow dots on the checks I hope this helped. I saw what the other guy wrote, but also the males rub their selves on something, and the female-you should notice nesting behavior. Hope this helps IP: Logged |
