we have 3 mice. we call them our regulars. we have had them for a very long time. they are our breeders. 2 female, 1 male. they usually get pregnant around the same time. they deliver just 2 or 3 days apart. it's usually the same female giving birth first. just last week, they each gave birth to their 11th litters. they are not small litters, either. they each have between 10-14 babies. a few of the babies have died along the way. but, for the most part, they are healthy. occasionally, the #2 mom will eat the #1 mom's entire litter, i think that is because she wants to ensure enough room for her own. my question is, how many litters will mice have? & what's the life span of a mouse? thank you.

Mice generally live 1-3 years. I was always told to not let a mouse have more than a few litters, because it wears her out and she won't live as long. Especially the way they reproduce constantly, since they can (and usually do) get pregnant just hours after giving birth if there is a male present.

However, as a mouse ages and has more litters, the litter size is supposed to decrease. 10-12 is the average size, so maybe your two girls are super-mice!
