... in their drinking water or with their food, like guinea pigs?
My rabbit doesn't seem to like fruits and vegetables too much, so I'm worried if he gets enough vitamins. He eats a standard rodent mix, and as treats he get basil and crispbread. His fur is very soft and shiny, he doesn't loose hair and his eyes are clear, so I don't see any signs that something might be wrong. His food mixture is the type his previous owners has always fed him. Any thoughts? |

| Do you give him hay...such as timothy hay? I know that the hay is important in their diets but I'm not aware that rabbits need any special supplements. Maybe you can try the dehydrated fruits and veggies? My last rabbit was'nt too big on fresh fruits and veggies either but he seemed to love the dehydrated stuff. I used to get it at the grocery store....the kind that does'nt have added sugar. I've also used fruit and veggies mixes from the feed store that are designed for small animals. |

Thank's Nern I'll try the dryed fruit and see if he likes that. He does get hay, but I don't know what kind it is (I buy small bags at the pet store) |

you should just be able to find them in any pet shop, they're usually ones to put in the water.
rabbits don't need as many vitamins as guinea pigs, and never give rabbits too many greens, they need some but not a lot. you can give rabbits vitamin drops but it's not a necessity. if he looks healthy i would say it doesnt sound like he deperately needs vitamin drops but it may be a good idea to give him drops during the winter, just because it is generally harder to get as much fresh stuff during this time. but really it's up to you as, to me, it sounds like he's getting a nicely balanced diet. |
