Good behaver

I have four budgies, Nani one of my boys who is 2 almost 3 years old, then there is Cody and Ricky who are both boys and both a year old and both of them are Nani’s sons but sadly their mother died from egg binding , Lani L and then my youngest, Sweetie who is now my only girl and is almost a year old. Now I love all of my animals and I always take then out to play and I give them as much as my attention as I possibly can but all of my budgies seem to not like me I mean when I go to take them out of their cage together sweetie freaks out as soon as I open the cage door and wont let me hold her she just squeaks at me and flies away from me and then when I have them all out none of them will allow me to hold them and they wont let me get them to put them back into their cage and I have the hardest time catching them I usually end up getting a light blanket out and catching them by throwing it over them all. I have had budgies before and I had this one really good behaved budgie named Danny and I tell ya he was the best behaved bird I have ever seen. We always left his cage door open so that way he could go in and out at all times except for when we left and at night. I could even call his name and he would come fling over to me. Long story short I just need some advise on how I can get this group to behave better. Does anyone have any advise for me? Anything will help thanks!!

Hi there the first thing to do is to ask a breeder or an avian vet if they would clip the birds wings this makes it easier for you to catch them when they are out of the cage.

Do they have a favourite piece of fruit or vegtable if so then if you place your hand slowly in the cage holding the food slowly move towards them and hold your hand there for a few minutes then remove your hand do this a few times a day if possible and they will soon learn you are not going to hurt them.

Once they trust you having your hand in the cage you can slowly move your hand towards there chest rubbing your finger gently across there chest hopefully they will trust you enough to jump onto your finger.

Good look and it does take time its hard when there is a few birds together.
