In addition to my awesome 17 year old kitty Nitro, I also have an awesome 14 yrd old Lab/dalmation mix Pantera. She has had a tumor for about 2 months and after a couple of visits to the vet it was decided it was spread enough to be terminal. I did get another vets opinion and she said the same thing. So her quality of life was still pretty good she was still her goofy self until this weekend. She didn't seem to have the energy to be her self, she had always been a very hyper dog. Then this morning I go to let her out and feed her before I go to work, she is shaking having a hard time getting up and just looks so sad. So my wife and I decided it is probably time to say goodbye and I am taking her in at 8am.
I know everyone hates to read these sad stories, but I find it soothing to type it out and it helps me deal with what I have to do later.
Thanks,
Scott |

I'm so sorry to hear about Pantera. That's going to be tough for you and your wife. You did the right thing by getting a second opinion. It's so hard to put one of our fur animals to sleep. Just know that you are doing the right thing and she will no longer be suffering. Hang in there. I certainly know how you are feeling. |

| Thank you all for the well wishes, it really helps a lot. My wife brought Pantera to me for Valentines day in 1994. She saw an add in the paper about a puppy that was found in the street. Thier apartments would let them have pets. They took her to the vet and found out she was only 4 weeks old so with a little help from the vet they took care of her until she was 7 weeks and that is when I got her. I believe we gave her a very good life the vet who took care of her Monday said she looked good for a 14 year dog and that that was was a very long life for a dog of her size. I will miss her, but right now she is probably running around with Jake our German Shepard who we lost in 2002. They were buddys and she missed him when he died. Sorry for going on and on. |
