I was scheduled to get two 6-month old kittens for fostering. A brother and a sister from a pair of 3 (2 sisters, 1 brother). These kittens were confiscated as part of a cruelty/hoarder/BYB case in Massachusetts. They have been in a "safe" house for 3 months while being socialized. This woman fosters for the shelter but volunteers for rescue. She has been working with the kittens to get them in shape for being accepted into rescue - and she has done a great job with them.
Anyway she felt the 2 sisters should stay together while the brother would be fine on her own. Rescue's director likes to see a pairing of male/female although it doesn't always work well. I solved the problem.
Apparently there was a person who was applying to rescue just to adopt Henry and no guarantees as they go on a first to ask basis.
So I suggested this lady adopt Henry via the shelter since the kittens do still technically belong to the shelter until the surrender paperwork is done/signed/faxed to rescue.
Henry is being neutered today and going home with this lady on Saturday. I am getting the sisters tomorrow (Thursday).
Next....
there was a craigslist posting from Massachusetts a woman looking to rehome a siamese cat she had adopted 2 years ago. Her existing siamese cat was tormenting the adopted one who is a 4-paw declaw. He was terrified. She tried but felt he would be happier in another home.
I emailed her asking where she adopted the cat from. She said Siamese Rescue. So I let her know they have a strict return policy, she should read her contract. She emailed me back saying she was embarrassed about having to return him. I sympathized with her and got her to contact rescue (in the meanwhile I had been letting them know what was going on).
He's being returned and is going to one of our longest-term fosters.
It has been a good week!!! |
