Hi and welcome to Auspet. Very Happy As soon as anyone gets a new pet, it's best to have the vet check them out. Make sure they are healthy and okay. Once he gets the okay by the vet, then you and the kids just have to have lot's of patience. It's pretty hard for any animal to come into a new home. It's a whole new world with all new things and people. It can be a pretty scary experience. The moving may also be hard on him. Perhaps get some Rescue Remedy drops to help calm him down (just add to his water)

One of my cats, Juliet was feral when a rescue group got her. When I adopted her, she would hiss and wanted noting to do with me. I took her to the vet and she was fine. Still it took her a few days before she would even come near me. I just played it cool and ignored her. Finally when she started to come over to me I would pet her, but not pick her up. Eventually she came around and she is the sweetest little cat ever. She really is a love bug.
