I have 2 minature Daschounds (or however you spell it, weiner dogs). 1 of them loves when i put him in a crate and the other flips out. She has bad seperation anxiety. The one that likes the crate is starting to have back problems again so i was thinking about putting him back in a crate. My question is... Should i have them in seperate rooms or in the same room. If they are in the same room one will be running free while he is in the crate. I know if i seperate them my female will probably go crazy but for right now I am just worried about his back. Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
thank you,
Jason |

If your Dachshund is having back problems, crating him and limiting his jumping and activity is essential, no...critical. I would probably try the crazy female loose in the room with the male crated. That's what I did. You don't want her bumping him or agitating him if he's hurting. Also, please do not allow either one to jump on or off of furniture--even if the other one doesn't seem to be having back problems. You can't tell these hard headed little dogs that jumping is bad, so you have to restrict them from high places. I even had a ramp but the would use it to go UP but not down so it had to go and now I just sit and lie on the floor with them.
There is some good advice for dachshunds with back problems at www.dodgerslist.com |

Thats excellent advise coppersmom, my nanna had a sausage dog that got back probs early on in his little life, she would not stop him jumping down off the furniture and up, he ended up that bad he had to be put to sleep, so she basically killed him with kindness, because she did not want to restrict him to the floor only.. |
