Hi, my Kitty Legend is a year and a half old. He recently just spent a week and a half at a vet - apparently he has a rare disorder and needs calcium and Vitamin D suppliments daily. In order to give him these suppliments I have to use a dropper. I put it in his mouth and squirt the liquids in.
He just came home last Saturday, so he's been home for three days at two nights. But he won't eat anything anymore. Not wet food, dry food - even treats; I'll put them in his mouth and it looks like he's trying to eat but he'll spit them out more often than not.
He drinks sometimes, but I'm not sure how often he is if at all. He still seems fairly active and playful.
Should I be concerned about this? He used to be a pig and now he hardly eats at all!
Any advice would be really apreciated.
Thanks! |

If he's eating nothing at all I would phone the vet asap!
If hes eating a little bit but just not as much as usual then it could be down to the distruption of being at the vets for over a week, or maybe its his medication making him loose his appetite, perhaps you could get him some nice chicken or tuna to encourage him!
Either way if its not looking better in the next few days and especially if he stops being playful I would phone up the vet and talk with them about it.
Its difficult to give advice as you say your cat has a rare disorder, We don't know what it is and what kind of side effects it may have. |

a cat shouldn't go more than 48 hours w/out eating. You can check for dehydration by lifting the skin up between the shoulder blades. If it snaps back quickly he is hydrated, if not (leaves a sort of tent behind) he needs fluids asap.
