I have a sick mother cat and am not sure what she has. She has been for just one day. We had another cat with the same symptoms-we think he ran off to die. The symptoms are: First, the pupils in the eyes become almost completely covered with inner eyelids (?) (White, from bottom inner eyes-I THINK its their eyelids, they Do have more than one per eye?) The cat that disappeared became lethargic, vomiting, weight loss then quit eating & disappeared. NOW our mom cat is lethargic, won't eat OR feed her babies (just 2 weeks old). Please help! Does anyone know what is causing my cat's illness? I can't afford a vet so any home remedies will be appreciated. Also, kittens are HUNGRY-I was told NOT to feed them baby formula WITH iron & can't find ANY without iron. I've tried evaporated milk, via eye dropper, but they don't like it. Would goat milk be a better choice? Please help ASAP before my cats die!!!!! [/b]

Hi. I am sorry your cats are not doing well. There are no "home remedies" as your older cat needs to see a vet right away. If you can't afford to arrange payment plans with any vets in your area, you should probably surrender her and the kittens to your nearest no kill shelter where they can get the proper medical care that they need. As for the kittens they need to be eating. At any pet store they should carry KMR powder (or other similar products) that you mix with water and feed them with a bottle. I know you care about your cats, but they really do need proper medical care. I wish you and the cats all the best. Let us know what you decide to do.

Nothing to add to Chessminds post, the mom needs medical attention ASAP.

Good luck.

KMR as suggested. I've been told when the inner eyelid is showing the cat has a very high fever.
If you can't afford to care for them perhaps you have a no-kill shelter in the area that can take them.
If mom is that sick the kittens probably are sapping her strength anyway.

Thanks all I'll see where some no-kill shelters are in my area.
