| i have 2 blueheeler puppies. one of them is mine(later) and the other(cowboy) is my brother in laws. Cowboy was fine yesterday morning but when we saw him last night he was skin and bone and his leg was skinned up and you could see his elbow bone. he's not eating or drinking. Later, I think has mange. She has fur missing in random spots on her body face and the edges of her ears. I am taking Cowboy to the vet today but I can't take Later because I have no money to pay for her vet bill and the in laws are scraping for money to pay for Cowboy's. Do yall think they have mange?? |

What your describing with the hair loss on your pup sounds as though it could be demodex (one type of mange) if it is that then its not contagious and you should be able to clear it up through a vet. Cowboy sounds like he has more serious problems that need to be seen to ASAP.
I know you say you dont have the money and there are occasionally cases where minimal localized demodex will clear up by itself if the puppy is healthy but what your describing, if it is demodex then its more generalized and probably will not go away without the right treatment from a vet. If this is bad and its left untreated then it will get worse and worse and the dog will end up with secondary bacterial skin infections and in very severe cases it can actually end up that the dog has to be put to sleep....
how old are the pups? |
