Hi, Just wanted to know if anyone can help me.
My male 3yr old dog has just been castrated today. Thats not the problem the reason why i'm posting is he had his op this morning 10.00am and is still flaked out not even lifting his head, is this normal? I dont want to bother the vet and sound like a neurotic mother!!
PLEASE please somebody put me out of mi misery and set me straight as i dont feel like i can leave his side.

how long has he been home and how long since his operation?

Wow! Most vets around here in Indiana and Illinois keep their dogs overnight after spaying or neutering! And my experiences have known the vet to call me at home the next evening to see how the dog is doing!!

Our 2 1/2 yr. old female was spayed and when she came home the next day she was still dopey! She was also sedated when she was OFA'd and came home that afternoon. She hobbled around the house like a drunkard all that evening. Even though she was groggy and slept most of that evening and the next day - she was still awake enough to go outside for relief!

Don't worry about the neurotic mommy feeling -----

Call your vet!!! Remember - your dog is still his patient and I am sure he would want to know how things are going!

thanks for your advise ,we did phone the vet and they assured us this was the norn.he is now up and around.thanks for your replys.

Some animals take longer than others to come out of it, But my vet will not allow any animal home until they are awake and moving.

Glad he is up and about like i say it does take some animals longer to come round..

Also do not be too alarmed if he vomits after eating or drinking something this is normal for atleast 24hours again not all animals are the same.
