i got a new cat! she is 2 years old from the spca. she is really cute.
Max is really excited and wants to follow her everywhere. but she hisses everytime he gets close and growls at him. so they are separated in different rooms. i first put them in the same room, they were both frozen staring at each other. then Max tried to get closer and the cat started hissing. so i got out the laser pointer and Max started running after it. then i put the laser light near the cat and she went after it trying to catch it. it was so funny, she forgot about max for few mins. running after the laser pointer and jumping on walls trying to get it. even when i got it really really close to Max, it was like he wasnt even there. then Max got excited and wanted to run after the laser too. the cat got startled and turned around and hissed at him. but i feel kind of sad for Max..he really wants to get closer to her and sniff her. he has this cute meow that he does..kind of like he is asking her if he can come closer.
i still dont know what we are going to name her.
maybe Lily or Lucy
i took some pics of her...
here she is:

What a beautiful girl she is! I'm hoping that once she gets used to her new home, she'll take kinder to Max.

so cute! she looks like a Sassy. shadow does the same thing to my man kitty buster. shes mellowed out since we got her (she should have its been 5 1/2 years!) but she still likes to growl, and attack him.

She's very pretty. Once she settles in, I'm sure she'll start being nicer to Max. Just be sure to give him lots of attention through the whole process!

thank you everyone Very Happy
so..how long should i keep them separated..and what should i do to make the new cat like Max..or at least tolarate him. i really hope that they would get along in the future. she even hisses at him and growls if she sees him from the window when he is in the back yard. so..maybe she had a bad experience with a cat before..i dont know. cuz the spca told me that she was a stray cat. someone found her with her kittens and brought her to the spca and they waited until her kittens stoped nursing from her, then they put her up for adoption.
so...i have them separated..what do i do now?

thanks

Congratulations! She is very pretty!! Surprised

I don't know how long to keep them separated though. I kept mine separate for a few weeks I think. When the dogs and I would go in the guest room to visit Sabrina, Copper would stare through the cracked door and eventually he would push it open and come in for a few minutes. I eventually just left the door open and she would come out for a few minutes at a time and then retreat if it got too scary. She was originally a stray around my house. Good Luck!

She's really pretty (reminds me a bit of Romeo). Looks like she might have some turkish van in her.

I'm sure they will. Her whole life has changed drastically. She's in a new place with new people and Max. She will eventually settle down and be at ease. I'm glad Max likes her. That is a good start and is promising that they can become pals in the future. I am so happy for you and Max. She's a very pretty girl. As for keeping them separated, each cat is different, but I think 2 weeks is plenty of time.
