Yikes!!! Gross!!! I just found fleas on my cats. I want to order a topical application for them, and was wondering if Advantage or Frontline is better? Does anyone have any suggestions/comments on either product? I found a site CanadaVet.com that sells it cheaper than a few sites I have checked out, about $98.00 for a 12 pk supply, anyone seen it cheaper? It's going to cost me about $100 a month now to keep my cats on the flea medication, just great!!! Since I have ten kitties to treat, this is going to be expensive. Plus I have 3 dogs and 2 ferrets. I have yet to see any fleas on the dogs or ferrets. I got flea bombs to bomb the rooms, and some spray to spray under hard to get places. Once I do the applications, bombing, and spraying, and vaccuming everyday, will I see these buggers leave? I am so grossed out, I have never had fleas before. Any help would be so appreciated. Thanks

I use Advantage, I don't have any experience with Frontline. I have'nt had a severe flea problem so I don't have much advice on carpets, ect. but I do know that its important to keep the vacuum bags clean/empty as fleas can stay alive in there and your pets can quickly become reinfested. Also, if you have kittens Advantage can be used on kittens as young as 7wks but I think they need to be 12wks for the use of Frontline. Good luck.

Be careful with all of that flea stuff at once. It can be harmful to your pets. I personally don't think you need all of that. I would vacuum and treat the cats but I wouldn't bomb. (Just my opinion) And remember to throw away the vacuum bag (if you have them) after you vacuum because the eggs can hatch in there. I see you're in PA...you probably won't need to treat all year, will you? I know it's pretty darn cold up there so once you kill them inside, there won't be any more riding inside from the yard.

And I like frontline for my dogs because it gets ticks too--just in case. But use Advantage on the cats cuz it's a little cheaper. I've read on this forum you have to be careful about ordering on-line because it's not all legit. It has to be sold via prescription through a vet.

Good Luck!

K-V vet supply was a fine and -lowest price- supplier for my old dog's special need prescriptions.

MUCH cheaper than the outfit that advertises on USA television.

The procedure: get the local vet to phone in the pet's prescription.
KV ships promptly and you have your goods (anything) inside of a few days.

The customer service is great. The price is right. The goods are genuine; no doubt about that. It's a stand-up company deserving your patronage.

Idea of the savings $100 for X from KV. $160 for x from the TV-advert supply house. $200+ for x from the local vet.

It's about like that. Barney needed Viokase V (sp?). The savings by using KV allowed him generous helping of this digestive aid essential for animals with congenital pancreatic insufficiency.
He lived to be twenty. Thank you, KV. And no, I am not currently buying from KV or any outfit. This is not a plug for any ulterior motive or to benefit the company by pretense or posure.

I just want to wish you good luck. While you are vaccuuming, it is advisable to place a OTC flea collar in your vacuum bag. It will keep the fleas from reinfesting. I learned that tip from this board. Let me know if Frontline or Advantage worked for you and where you end up purchasing the product.
