Hi. It could be a few things. Your cat may have a medical reason why she is irritable. Or it may be behavioral. If there is no medical reason for it (being in pain) then it is behavioral. Such as a cat/animal in the neighborhood that is upsetting her (even if she is an indoor only cat) or even a person that is causing her to be upset. This link is very helpful. Scroll down to "AGGRESSION and there is tons of info here that will be of help.

I cant help with cat behavioural issues but Im wondering, is your cat spayed? Does she only react like this when you touch a particular area on the back? When a male cat mounts a female they often will 'hold' the female somewhere along the back with their teeth, usually around the shoulders or up towards the neck/back of the head area and this can result in an abscess, they are usually painful before we notice them, like before they start to swell up.
Ive seen this in spayed female cats though and some males (although not as much as in unspayed females). Also though an abscess can be caused through playful fighting.
An abscess anywhere on the body is painful and Ive seen hundreds (if not more) cats suddenly react aggressively and the owner is upset as the cat is usually very friendly.
just a thought. |
