Hey eveyrone
well I have 4 budgies all in the cage together, I have decided to clip all of their wings... only 2 of them have ever had their wings clipped when I first got them.. they now all have flying capabilities... but They deserve to be able to come out of the cage I have decided... the oldest is about a year and 3 mnoths....
I am only goin to be able to take one at a time to get their wings clipped... will this change the Pecking order of the flock.. if soon one by one they can not fly>> or does this not have an impact on that....
Will they be able to learn quickly how to deal with it or is it possible they may hurt themselves with falls in the cage>>

In my own experience wing clipping has never changes the way my birds react or treat each other.
Take Kiwi for instance, I usually clip him because he has a habit of breaking his blood feathers. A while ago I let him grow in his full flight feathers and it didn't change the way my other birds reacted to him or how he reacted to my other birds. If they've been together for a while they've probably already figured out that they're not going to be hurt by the other birds so they have no need to protect themselves.
If they've always been flighted then I would have to say yes they will probably have a few bumps and dings in the cage while getting use to their limitations but they learn how to adapt rather quickly. |

I agree with Aqueous, Wing clipping will not change the pecking order all this really does is to help make training easier for you as the birds will rely on your to get around since they will not be able to get the height they usually get when fully flighted.
As with all birds that have there wings clipped for the first time a few bumps are to be expected till they learn they can not fly the way they used to they usually learn this very quickly and have literally no accidents at all.
What i usually do is for the first couple of days i lower there perches then gradually move them back to there normal position.
