I saw a cat at PetsMart up for adoption because he walked on the kitchen counters. *gasp*

And there was a one-year-old black lab put to sleep last month at a local shelter because his family gave him up because he "chewed on things" and the shelter was full.

What I *really* don't understand is why a family would give up an animal to a kill shelter. Why not take the time to find it a home?? Mad
