So I bought this play gym so my little guy will hang out on it instead of the budgie cage, I have had sucess with this sort of... but I was wondering if I would be able to put hamster cedar shavings on the floor of it instead of newspaper.. i figure it would be easier to clean because they bird is not always in there and ihe could chew on them maybe]
is this safe??
thanks

If using woodshavings make sure they are plain large woodshavings as some wood shavings are toxic to birds due to chemicals in the shavings.

Small shavings can be swallowed by the bird resulting in impaction and death.

I would go for the shredded paper yeah, I only ever use plain woodshavings in the nest boxes and i always make sure it is large chips.

What you can get is sand to go on the bottom most good petstores sell it.
