thinking of adopting again - addicted!

I received an email asking if anyone wanted kittens. Me and my BF have always wanted a black cat. The pictures are sooo cute - and there are 2 black kittens - one male and one female.

Now here's the question - with the 2 we already have being female - is there one sex that we should get that would be better fitting into our little furry family? The cat will be fixed as soon as it reaches an age when it can be, and will not be permitted outdoors.

Any insight would be apprectiated - we aren't for sure yet about doing it - but the woman who has them is needing to get rid of them and doesn't want to have them put down in a shelter.

how old are your cats?
What we go by with Siamese Rescue is trying to get 2 cats of the opposite sex around the same age and with the same level of activity...but that's 2 cats.
where your cats are already used to each other it might be easier for them to accept more cats/kittens.
I find it's harder to get older resident cats to accept kittens due to the playfulness...but I'm going by my cats.
If you are serious enough it can be done with time and patience.
Keep the kittens isolated for up to 14 days (also to protect your cats from any illnesses/parasites the kittens might come in with) and wait until after a complete vet check (including fecal). Then slowly start to introduce them.
A friend of mine adopted a young nonspayed female from my local shelter. She has a geezer meezer (spayed female) along with a younger neutered male.
She did the iso thing and slow intro but her male freaked out when the newbie went into a heat (I stressed her spaying first but her vet wanted her to wait.....WRONG). So now she's had to start all over again. She went to a behaviorist who suggested that while the 2 cats were together distract them with treats and stuff so they were focusing on each other - they focuses on the treats but were able to share the same space without fighting and they are starting to progress nicely (and the newbie got spayed yesterday).
It's taking her awhile cause it got off to a bad start but with a bit more patience on her part they are finally starting to get along - it can be done...I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to get the kittens if you really want them

We have gotten both male and female kitties but I'm not sure which would be better with your adult kitties.

Whenever we tried to introduce an adult to our kitties (whether male of female), it has never worked; but we have successfully introduced kittens to our adult cats and they seemed to accept it better.

It also probably depends on your cat's tempermant. With the kitties we have now (Socks and Mittens) our one kitty is better at accepting another kitty while our other kitty whould have a harder time with it.

we just adopted the one female in february. They are both about 2 years old. The other one we have had since we could get her from her mom.

both are fixed, but they seem to have issues with dominance. So I was thinking getting a male might calm them down a bit, and a kitten might make them bond a little better.

the original one has a hard time adjusting - but as long as she gets her attention she is fine.

The other one is great - she adjusted right away when we brought her home.

they are sooooooo cute tho, the black kittens look like little bears with blue eyes!

sounds like my cats - My Missy took a month to come out from under the bed, Tilly owned my house as soon as she walked in. Then I got Zeus (both females were young adults when I go them). I adopted Zeus as a kitten from the shelter...both my girls hated him. It's been 3 years and although the bloodletting has stopped they still don't really like him. Missy especially - Tilly will play with him but she was really mean to him when he was a kitten.
