i have 3 barbs in a 12 gallon tank is there anything else i could get?

Ya, there's quite a bit you can get. I'm assuming they're small barbs (2 inches max?) I had swordtails a few years ago, they're beaufiful fish, especially the males. Guppies are very attractive and coulourful as well, but be careful because they can multiply like crazy, so maybe only get males (they're the pretty ones anyway!) Just go to your petstore, there's a lot of different fish you can still get, and keep in mind that the general rule is one inch of fish per gallon of water.
