First I wanna say sorry that I haven't been around much but our son is home on leave and we've been doing all sorts of things including vacation Smile We've been having a blast.

Ok, here's my question: Do cats shed their whiskers? I found a whisker on the floor today and need to know weather to worry about that.

Glad you are very a great time! Surprised You and your son deserve it! Don't worry about the whiskers. Every couple of months I collect some whiskers. Like their nails or fur, they fall out and grow back, lol's! Mr. Green

My kitties shed thier whiskers, too. I find them on the floor on on the furniture once in awhile.

Glad you are enjoying your summer. Smile

I remember seeing something on TV about a painter or crafter that used her cat's shedded whiskers to blend paint...so I guess they do fall out. I've seen them around here, but who knows who they came from. Rolling Eyes

I am an avid Luna-whisker collector, and have found and saved quite a few of them in the past 2 years. I learned that one of the things that cats use their whiskers for is to help judge whether or not a space is too small for them to fit through, because the whiskers grow to the exact size of their shoulder width. When a cat's weight changes, and they get fatter or skinnier, they can lose multiple whiskers (usually the longest ones) to readjust to their new body size. When Luna became an indoor-only cat, she put on a few extra pounds and lost quite a few whiskers in the process. They grow back very quickly, fortunately.

That makes sense. Booger has lost weight since we moved here. She has much more room to run around in and up and down the stairs several times a day. She's so funny. She's loving the new space to play in.

Hubby and I were cracking up about a week ago, we were playing with her and she was on her back kicking her feet at us and we could see her belly shaking like jelly as she was kicking LOL

I wish Socks would run around the house. We have the room but she just like to lie around and sleep. She could lose a few pounds.
