Hey Maisey - Did you ever hear what happened with Katie? Did she find a nice home, or is she still in a foster home?

Hey, if I still lived in the Pacific Northwest, I wouldn't spend time in front of the computer either. As it is, my job is to sit in front of this machine, so I have "spare time" to post.

I haven't heard anything about Katie, I can't find the ladies phone number...I'll have to look on my phone bill I suppose. Elises friends family last I heard was considering getting a Aussie mix, which has totally pissed Elise off. Shawn said..."well at leaste when we have to rescue this one it will be a dog we understand and like", I am just disgusted, not just with this family, but with all the ads I see for dogs needing homes because people are moving, or don't have time. I try not to look at them and just keep helping when and where I can. A checker at our local grocery store that I have become friends with over the years adopted an Aussie...without doing any research...I guess the difference is that she didn't dump the dog when trouble arose...she asked me for help and advice. I will start working with her and her dog on the basics this week. Then she will join me in some obedience classes at the same place I go.
On the home front...I'm sorry I haven't been around, we just have SO MANY projects going. The retaining wall is about half up and has cost us way more than we originally figured. I will be very happy and relieved to get it done and the fence up. Witt got down into the neighbors yard a while ago and then panicked when he couldn't get back up (6 foot drop off), it was 6 am and I was in my PJ's, hair going every which way, no bra and no shoes...I tried to stop him from making a leap that would have ended in him getting injured and he freaked and pulled me over the edge. 6 foot drop onto a concrete footing, flat on my back, and damn lucky I didn't catch rebar on the way down. My back has been a problem since. Dooley has thrown every toy he owns over the edge in an attempt to make Shawn play with him instead of work on the wall, it's funny to watch him. I got concrete burn the day we poured the footing for the wall ( I didn't even know this was possible) and since then I get an allergic reaction everytime I touch wet concrete...I HATE WEARING GLOVES! This project has been a PAIN.
I got my horse cart and have been working on it, it is a homemade cart...very light, too light..if my horse spooked, she wouldn't even know the cart was back there. So I have been diddling with it, sanding it and trying to figure out a way to add more weight. Our neighbor is a welder and has had some good ideas. Between him and Shawn I have the distinct feeling I am going to end up with a NASCAR looking horse cart with flames painted on it somwhere! It will work for training her in any case.
I have drug all my old stock from when I was an antique dealer out of storage and have been selling it off slowly, someday I may actually have enough room in our shop for tools!
Because of my fall, my training sessions with Witt were postponed, the trainer felt that with me being injured, Witt's protectiveness was heightened and that we should wait. We go tomorrow and I am excited.
Still working part time and still looking for a better job! Mackenzie leaves Sunday for Outdoor School and I don't know if I will be able to handle it..a whole week with her gone =(.
I'll post some pictures of what we have been doing, below. |

This is day one, Shaw has just started removing the dirt that has slid down the hill. He is down in our neighbors yard, boy are we glad the neighbor has never landscaped his yard!
Ok, all the dirt is removed and it's time to get the rebar and forms in.
Rebar and forms in, my mother stands above "supervising", Mackenzie is the gopher helping dad, the concrete truck has arrived an hour early and is waiting... and the stress is mounting. My step-dad and Shawn alone had to wheel borrow 4 3/4 yards of concrete into the forms in 40 minutes!
Dooley "helping" by tossing flower pots over the edge to get dads attention.
Concrete has been poured.
Shawn and a friend start putting up the actual block for the wall. Check out the neighbors yard...we have decided that not only will we plant a lawn for him when we are done...but he deserves a big gift basket of thanks.
They now have 4-5 courses of block up, so it's about halfway up. I haven't gotten recent pics yet. |

Maisey, sorry to hear about your back. Mine is killing me today. I woke up in the middle of the night to turn over and twisted it really bad because Harley was sleeping on my back!! She's such a rascal. Its a good thing I sit at my job.
Anyways, good luck with the yard. We are redoing our fence this summer. Uck! Not excited for it. Take care! |

| LMAO Jimaya! He will look at those pictures, and where you see progress and improvement...he will see WORK. LOL, note* I am taking the pictures...not in them working! I have helped in everyway i could, but much of it I just can't because of my back, and when I did get in there and get covered in concrete...I got burned literally. |

Hope your back gets better soon- it's a bugger of an area to injure isn't it? I once hurt my back just doing hardly anything at all (mixing something at a stove), I think something just "twanged" in my back and it locked up and I had to lay down for the rest of the day. Not that I got any comfort from lying down... there's not alot you can do to relieve the pain.
Take it easy! |

Miasey, I meant that YOUR project is so huge that ours look tiny in comparison. Maybe my husband will feel better seeing what he DOESN'T have to do!
