dwarf puffer info needed

i was wondering.. do dwarf puffers actually puff up like saltwater puffers? whats the minimum tank size for a few dwarf puffers? what should they be fed? how big do they get??

they can but it's not good for them. or any puffer for that matter. it's a defense mechanism. i feed mine brine, bloodworms, mysis shrimp. they'll take just about anything like that but i have heard that it is very rare that they would take any kind of prepared food such as flakes or pellets. on these little guys, 2-3 gallons per fish is good cause they will nip fins. and do get up to 1". i've got 3 in a 5 gal and they are perfectly happy and fat. keep small snails in there so that they can pick at those to grind their evergrowing teeth down.

yes, but like hooterhead said, its not healthy for them. they probably dont puff for you b/c you dont scare them into a life or death reaction

i'm not really sure but they do have to be really scared to do it. i had a GSP and also had an eel that tried to eat it. the puffer puffed, deflated and died about 2 hours later.

it funny caa boom!! it just the way how he said it die in 2 hours.. man those fishes are cheap!! it probly can't even live up to 2 years in a half..

it doesnt go kaboom. A puffer inflates by s**k air/water into their stomachs expanding it by alot. And a sudden rapid strech of their stomach can in some cases repture it and cause internal bleeding and all that stuff.

So yea scaring a puffer can kill it.

Anyway most puffers will eat small fish (Neons, feeders etc...) so dont put em with small fish if u dont wana lose em.
