using a fish bowl?

Hey everyone.. I have this fish bowl.. standard fish bowl who knows maybe just a gallon or 2.. but I was wanting to just have it across the room sort of like an accent to the other tank.. I was thinkin of putting some substrate in the bottom and maybe a couple java ferns in a birght part of the room... I always see the siamese fighting fish in small cups.. are they usually kept in small tanks?? I realize I will have to do very frequent water changes.. but I was wonering if there was just a single fish that could live happily in this enviroment.. even if it just means putting all of my extra snails in there once they get outta control do you guys think this a good idea?? Thanks

A lot of the tanks they sell for Bettas are too small (under 1 gallon). Bettas would do better in a gallon (bare min.) or larger. A 2 gallon would be fine for a betta.

i had a range of different fish growing up. all the ones in th efish bowl ended up living longer than the ones in the tank.

Pretty much the only way "any fish" can survive in a bowl...other than a betta is...
1. IF you don't really feed it, the levels of ammonia can get lethal real fast with no filter or flow.
2. You change the water 100 percent like every other day.
3. The fish will live a long time, but it is not the ideal setting for growth or viewing.
4. A longer living healthier fish will live in a filtered tank. Longer living can be, in some cases, 10 years or more. (depending on the fish)

there are really small filters for bowls like that.
