YOUR AGE BY CHOCOLATE MATH

This is pretty neat. Mr. Green

DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST! Shame on you

It takes less than a minute....... Work this out as you
read.
Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it
out! This is not one of those waste of time things, it's
fun.

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that
you would like to have chocolate. (more than once but
less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (Just to be bold)

3. Add 5. (for Sunday)

4.. Multiply it by 50 I'll wait while you get the
calculator................

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add
1755....

If you haven't, add 1754 .....

6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number .

The first digit of this was your original number (i.e.,
how many times you want to have chocolate each week).

The next two numbers are ........

YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!!!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2005) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO
SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS.

This isn't as amazing as it seems. There's a trick involved.

No matter what number you start with, when you multiply by 2, you have an even number. But when you add 5, you get an odd number. Now, when you multiply by 50, no matter where you started, the last digit in the number you end up with will always be a 0, and the next number will always be a 5. Now, if you add 1755, the last number will always be a 5. If you add 1754, the last number will always be a 4.

Are you starting to see a pattern here?

Now, for example, if you chose 10 as your first number, no matter what age you are, if you haven't had a birthday this year, you'll end up with 3004 as the number you subtract your birth year from. It doesn't matter what year you were born in, the result will be your current age and the number you started with. If you were born in 1952, you subtract that from 3004 and you get 1052...10, your original number, and 52, your current age. If you were born in 1977, you subtract that from 3004 and get 1027. Again, 10 was your original number, 27 is your current age.

Or, assuming you've had a birthday this year, and start with 7...you end up with 2705. Subtract your birthyear, let's say 1966. You get 739, your original number, 7, and your age, 39. Take the same 2705 and change the birth year, 1982...723, again, the same result, your first number and your age.

The trick is in the formula, x2+5x50, and the number you add after that, 1755 or 1754. Next year, just bump those numbers up one, 1756 or 1755. It'll still work out correctly.

Isn't math wonderful?

Of course it worked. Unless you make a computation error, it HAS to work.
