My rabbit Cadbury !!!!

Hi everyone...I am just curious..I have a dutch rabbit he is a yr now..But my Q is do any of you that have rabbits have more than 1 to keep them company?? Mine lives outside in a rabbit hutch..he has a lot of room..but sometimes I just feel sorry for him even though he gets out every day for several hours..are rabbits happier with another one like itself?? I have read that male rabbits will fight each other and then a male and female will have babies..I don't want any of that..So maybe its better he is the only one I have...I just thought I would see what everyone else thinks....annabelle7[/quote]

You can keep a male and female together if you have them neutered/spayed. I'm not sure if two neutered males would get along, but probably. Especially if they had a large area to live in.

You might have trouble finding a vet who's willing to spay or neuter a rabbit, but call around and you should be able to find one.

The ones Ive seen together have got along great, I dont recall anyone telling me they fought. I havent actually been around that many of them so mostly its just hearsay. My uncle used to own a petstore and he very often sold a bunny and guinea pig together, I was always dropping in there almost on a daily basis and I dont think he ever had to take any back which he would have done had there been any problems.
You have to be careful with the diet though, make sure you have the correct diet for both.
Maybe some other posters have more experience with them both.

Firstly, most rabbits will kick when they get excited and if the guinea pigs gets in the way of a kick it can do quite a bit of damage and possibly death.

Guinea pig food contains vitamin C which guinea pigs need because they cannot store vitamin C like rabbits can.

Also, some rabbit foods contain antibiotics which can be toxic to guinea pigs.

My Rabbit, White-Out, loves my cats! They chase eachother and he is very gental with the kitten....they even laydown together while whitout lets Pogo (kitten) chew on his ears.....by the way he his not neutered either, but if you go looking online for a rabbit rescue, they will have information on where you can get him neutered, and also they have female rabbits that you can look into as friends for your male. Before i got my cats i was going to get a female rabbit from a rescue, at the time they told me to bring in my male (after he's fixed) and they will bring him in a room with different females and let him pick his new friend!!
