Hello.. I saw some freshwater clams today at the fish store..a nd I was wondering if they are harmfull to plants as some snails are.. or should they be O.K???
Also are there any special requirements of them?

i ahve had them before, they are fine. i dont think there really are special requirements as lngo as you dont have fish that will try and eat them. they are filter feeders, so they eat the microorganisms in the water.

I too am wondering if there are any special requirements about the fresh water clams, I've had them before but *never* have luck with them. The poor things end up dying Sad
I didn't have aggressive fish in with them either, they never bothered them. The fish did fine, just the clams died. Thanks!

I was at the pet store today.. and the lady told me that for the clams your tank has to be well established with lots of bacteria for them to eat or else they will die
