Not trying to cause controversy, just looking for an informed answer: When we first got Piper, my vet told us if we were going to crop her ears we needed to do it by the time she was 4 months old. Around 6 months we began to have second thoughts and wished we had done it, but did not pursue it because we thought it was too late. What are your thoughts on this?

A lot of times it has to do with the pain factor as the older the dog the more painfull the procedure... BUT it also has to do with aftercare and getting them to stand up. For older dogs it requires more taping and care than younger dogs... For a Vet if the after care is what matters in terms of getting the ears to stand it'd be better to just NOT do the procedure as if the ears did not stand...it'd be vet's fault...etc...??? Make sense??? SOME vets do it older but others just would rather not risk having to do another for free because of lack of aftercare by the owners.
