My shihpoo has been diagnosed with PRA and we want to get her a companion. My question is should we get a puppy or a dog about her age (she just turned 1 on 2/14). If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate your input.

This is just my opinion but I would think that a mellow, slightly older dog, similar in size may be good company for her. If the new dog is already an adult you will know how big its going to be and you will know what the personality is like. My Rott went blind due to diabetes, while she could see she would run around with the chihauha but once she went blind she followed the whippet (12 years old and very mellow) around everywhere.
