RoAnne -- your adorable puppy is totally a maltipoo, in my opinion. I have several friends who have maltipoo's and yours is the spittin' image of many! Regardless.... she (he?) is just to die for! Very cute face |

Abbeys Mom, avocados contain a fatty acid derivative called Persin. It is contained in the leaves, bark, fruit and seeds, and is toxic, although I couldn't run down any info on the actual mode of toxicity.
The symptoms include difficulty breathing and abdominal enlargement due to abnormal fluid accumulation in the abdomen, chest and pericardium. The exact amount of consumed avocado necessary to cause a problem is unknown, and it's best to avoid it altogether. |

| Thats strange, because there is the dog food called Avoderm, which has avocado in it. |

There are also dog foods and treats that contain onions and garlic. Probably not in quantities that could be harmfull, but who wants to take a chance?
Perhaps the manufacturer of Avoderm have some way of processing that removes or modifies the Persin, or perhaps they're not aware that avocado can be toxic. |

Hi everyone i agree with shineillusion i did some searching and came up with this.
Avocado: vomiting, diarrhea, death, inflammation of mammary glands, cardiac failure, respiratory distress, generalized congestion, fluid accumulation around the heart
Here is the link it has alot of different things that are toxic to dogs and the symptoms that show up if the dog eats them hope this helps everyone.
