Ok, I went ahead and got my new chihuahua. She's wonderful. I walked with her around Petsmart to see how she'd react to people and other dogs, and not so much as a bark or growl. Other chihuahua owners came up to me and asked me how I got her to be so friendly. Amazing dog, she even slept in my bed on the first night!
I have some sweaters for her, but I'm not sure if she should wear them inside. I keep my apartment temperature in the low 70s, but it's an old apartment and it has an occasional draft of cold air. She woke me up this morning burying herself under the blankets.
I can't really turn the temperature up, so should I keep a sweater on her? Also, does anyone have any advice for getting her to sleep on her pillow instead of in my bed? I'd prefer not to crate her, but my parents do that with one of their dogs and the dog doesn't seem to mind. |

oh congrats! where did she sleep previously, If she was crated, I would contunue that, once you start a dog sleeping in your bed, its hard to get them to sleep anywhere else.
I dont know about a dog that small if they would get cold withthat temp. you may just keep an eye on her and she will give you signs if tje room is too cold for her.

| I have 34 chihuaqhuas and they love to crawl under the covers and sleep and I like them to also they are so warm. The other is a 9 week old and very small he just weighs 1.8 lbs. He sleeps with 4 other babies that we have. |

My friend has a digital camera, so I'll try to get some pictures up in a few days. Last night, right before I went to bed, I opened the door to her crate to see what would happen, and she strutted right in and laid down. She didn't whine or bark the whole night, even when my alarm went off. As soon as I gated her into the kitchen this morning, she whined again. Should I move the crate to the kitchen during the day and leave it open? Should I crate her for the 8 hours I'm at work?
Yes, she's already potty trained, but she's a little dog, so I'm concerned about her making it through the whole day without an accident. |

gravity, sounds like she is used to her crate for sleeping, and since she is potty trained, but you still wna to keep her confined to an area, I would put her crate in that room and leave the door open, the crate is her comfort zone
good luck
