| Ok I have a dog, she is a mix of collie, pit, and retriever. She is about 10 years old and lately she has been drinking a TON of water. My dad was told that this is a sign of diabete's. Is this true? Does anyone know anything about this? |

| It is a sign of diabetes but it could also be a lot of other things. Possibly kidney disease or liver disease or I'm sure other things. You should take her to the vet. |

| You should take her to the vet, it could be diabetes, and if it is she might need medicine. |

My brother's dogs drink a LOT and they are fine.
But every dog is different so take their advice!
Hope everything is ok! |

One of the first signs that Max was diabetic was that he would drink a lot of water from anywhere he could get it. Rocky on the other hand just naturally drinks a lot.
Definately take her to the vet. If it is diabetes they can control it with insulin shots (Max had to have one every two hours) and the earlier you find out the better of a chance she has. |

I think if it's a new behavior, she NEEDS to see the vet. Can you work out a payment plan with one? Or is there a vet school nearby that has reduced rates? A shelter with reduced rates?
If it's diabetes, she needs to be treated. Same with kidney disease. |
