How long is OK to feed a small breed puppy food? I have heard it is alright to feed as long as two years and others say to stop at one year. What is the correct age to stop feeding puppy food? I don't want to feed puppy too long, but don't want to stop to early either. She is 10 months now so I have a short time to go, but wanted to make sure before the time was here. Smile Thanks!!

As long as the puppy is not getting fat....1yr is probably fine. My vet recommend that my aunt switch her shih tzu to adult food after she was spayed @ 4months of age. People and vets seem to have varying opinions on the subject.

I'm still feeding my 6 month old puppy food....but I had to buy a big bag the last time I went shopping, as they were out of the small. Once this bag is finished, I'll probably start switching her over.

I've also heard many different ideas on this, but my own personal belief is that once the animal has reached it's adult size, then its ok to consider switching over.

Thank you all for your replies. I have a big bag with quite a bit left and will be switching over to adult food slowly then. Thanks again!
