pet lease agreement

As I was browsing through different realtors in BBurg, I found this one which has a pet agreement. I think most of it seems a bit harsh, but someof it isn'T so bad, like the part saying you need to feed and water your animals. But the list of dangerous dogs is ridiculous, for several reasons first being that it says repaetedly no pet (or combined pets) can weigh more than 30 lbs. and it has to be an adult but not too old. so back to my point the dogs they listed all weigh more than 30 lns as a dults, they do not need to refer to them as visicious. and your dog isn't allowed to poo on their propety anywhere you must walk your dog not on their property. if your dog is not housebroken they can kick you out, I mean what happens if fif or fluffy gets sick and can'T control it, not only do you have vet bills to pay, but you need to find a new apt too. I understand yes there are bad pet owners and they don't want there property destroyed, but I think most of these rules are too harsh and would scare any normal pet owner away. I mean your cat is never allowed to be outside(what if it breaks out ad runs)

Is that how it is in your cities? I have had other rental agrrements and it was more like ok if your dog gets flees you agree to pay for the bug man to come and spray. I f they chew anything we take it out of your deposit.

I work in a real estate office and hearing some of the stories from landlords who have to go in and spend hundreds of dollars from damage created by pets after the tenant moves I can understand why someone might institute these rules.

I'm a pet owner and I do hate to see responsible pet owners be discriminated against BUT....again it's one of those things where the few make things worse for the many.

I've seen first hand what some people let their dogs do to property they don't own....one house the person had 2 bred rotties - the dogs had to stay in the basement of this house. When there was a layer of pooh on the basement floor the tenants simply put a layer of carpet over the pooh, another layer, another layer and it ended up being 6 layers thick of dog pooh and carpet. The person who cleaned this house had to wear a HazMat suit.

Most people don't do stuff like this - but all it would take for a landlord to experience something like this just one and I'm sure they would also have some tough pet policies if allowing pets at all

I'll never forget the seizure we did of 40 horses and at least 15-20 dogs. The dogs were living in a horse stall 10X8. When the door was opened to the stall, there was 3 feet of feces. The dogs were walkingon top of their own poo and urine. The smell was horrible....It was obvious the "owner" hadn't opened that door in months possibly years because it was soo compact when the door was open it shot out everywhere....

The dogs nails were sooo long and curled, hair matted, and 3 dogs were stuck in the filth. 5 'bodies" were found beneath the feces.

Most of the adds I've seen for rentals just take the easy way out and say "NO PETS" but some just go too far with their agreements.

My old neighbors have had a rabbit for many years now and when they bought their condo they were told they weren't allowed to keep their rabbit in the building. That's just crazy. They own the apartment.

But sometimes the agreements are there for the pets safety and the safety of people around the building/house. My uncle bought a house on a golf course about 2 years back and the agreement with the country club is if a dog goes outside it has to be on a leash and can't run free, which makes sense because with all of the golf carts whizzing by (they have no fenced in yard) if a dog were to get hit it could be serious for both the dog and the people in the cart.

6 layers of carpet and pooh? Wow! If the cleaner had to wear a HazMat suit how did the tenants stand living there?

the tenants also had kids!!!! The school would call DCYS about the stench from these poor kids. DCYS would go to the house, knock on the door and inquire about hygiene...they never went inside and looked around so nothing was done

Kids?!?! It's bad enough that adults were living there. Poor children!
