Dukesmom and I leave in the morning for a weekend in New York. Tomorow is Duke's birthday so we assigned that date to Freckles also. Duke turns the Big Three and we have decided Freckles will be two. I have to take them to the kennel this afternoon but I am also taking a large birthday cake for the staff to enjoy tomorrow. Each staff member can have a piece only of they give Duke and Freckles some special attention. I figure that will keep the boys happy all day.
Anyway, we were takling this morning and I said wouldn't it be great if we couls take the boys to New York with us so they could visit the Dog Park next to the Museum of Natural Science. That set me to thinking what a dialog might sound like between the boys and those New York Dogs.

Duke: Hi...Hi you?
NY Dog #1: You lookin' at me?
Duke (smiling): Sorry sir I was just being polite.
NY Dog #1: You smillin' at me?
Duke: C'mon Freckles lets find someone nicer to play with.
Freckles: I can't wait to see what a New York tennis ball looks like.
Duke (to NY dog # 2) Hi... Hi you.
NY Dog #2: Yeah, How ya doin'?
Duke: Well I'm doing just fine thank you. Wanna play chase huh huh?
NY Dog #2: Hey Bruno (NY Dog#1) This twinkie wants to play chase. Wanna eat him here or take him home and eat him later?
NY Dog #1, Nah lets go eat a lamp post.
NY Dog #2 to Duke: Hey Twinkie, ever eat a lamp post?
Duke (Thinking hard): Well no sir, I usually just pee on them.
NY Dog #2, You pee on my lamp post you will swim wit de fishes.
Freckles: Oh goodie, we have a whole tank of fish back home.
Duke: And we both love to swim.
NY Dog #2: Oh gees Bruno, I can't believe dees two weenies. Yoose guys from Jursey or what?
Duke,: No sir we are from Texas. Know where that is?
NY Dog #2: If it ain't Noo Yawk it don't matter no how.
Duke: Well we gotta go now. You two gentlemen have a nice day:
NY Dog #2: Twinkies...geesh.

Very Happy

Happy Birthday!!! Alles gute zum Geburtstag!
That was funny, and I am such a nut I am totally reading it with New York accents. You are so funny!
But being from TX, I think some of their lines need a bit of tweaking
and it starts off with that "western" music waah wah wah wahhhhh then it fades into loud stereos thunmping. And out of the tumble weeds into the skyscraper scene
Duke: Howdy Pahtnah?
NY Dog #1: You lookin' at me?
Duke (smiling): Sorry sir I was just being polite, my doggy and I just rolled up here in town.
NY Dog #1: You smillin' at me?
Duke: C'mon Freckles we are going to have to get down turn around and find someone else to do the tennis ball scootin boogie with.
Freckles: I can't wait to see what a New York tennis ball looks like, because everyone knows our tennis balls, like everything else is bigger in TX.
and so on, I think that is enough picking on Texans!
Have fun in NY

I've always wanted to leave the country and go to the big cities for just a day or two. Just to see what its like. I doubt I could handle it though..... One work day in little Rosenberg or Houston is more than I can handle. I get clusterpohobic and have to get home.

One thing I get asked alot is: "Why do you drive so far."
My response is: One: there's go good paying jobs in the country (cuz there are no jobs at all!!) and Two: come out to my place and you'll see why.

I invite everyone over. Once they see how peiceful, fresh and beautiful it is, they start looking for land for sale!! LOL

Duke and Freckles in New York, continued
After flying in to Newark, the boys take the bus to the Port Authority Terminal on 42nd St.
Freckles: Boy this place is scary Duke.
Duke: Just ignore those people in the corner on the floor.
Freckles: How do we get out of here?
Duke; I'm not sure, let's ask directions. Pardon me sir, could you please direct us to the exit?
Duke: I guess he was pointing to the door with his middle finger. Let's go that way.
Finally out of the terminal the boys head up 8th Avenue.
Freckles:Oh look Duke, a guy selling genuine Rolex watches. Let's buy one for dad.
Duke: Now just where are we going to get $5.00.
Freckles: Maybe he'll come down on the price. I'll ask him... Sir, all we have is $2.35, could we buy one of those genuine Rolex watches for that.
Freckles: Gee Duke, all he did was point at me like that other man.
Duke, I gotta pee. This brochure says there is a tree over on 7th Avenue at 52nd.
Freckles (Looking up) Duke, Where is the sun?
Duke: This brochure says that if you look up at noon on July 23rd you will see it.
Freckles: Let's go home. I want to see some real grass and sunshine again.
Duke: The brochure says there's a big patch of grass and trees starting up on 57th.
Freckles: How do we get up there.
Duke: The brochure says to take the F train at Times Square and get off at the 57th street station.
So Duke and Freckles head down to the subway platform. Freckles notices a piece of paper taped to a post on the platform and ask Duke what it says.
Duke: It says the F train is not running and to take the #1 to Columbus Circle and then transfer to the #42 bus, but not on even days or after 4:00PM when a full moon is due, every other Thursday when it's not a holiday.
Freckles: What does that mean?
Duke: It means take a cab.
Back on the street Duke tries to hail a cab in a cold rain.
Freckles: Why are they not stopping.
Duke: I think they only stop when it's not raining.
Freckles: Oh here comes one. It's stopping. It's stopping...It's not stopping. It just splashed us with more water.
Duke.: Lets walk, it's only 33 blocks, but they are the SHORT blocks.
Soaking wet and cold the boys finally get to Central Park
Duke: Well there it is. Now let's go back to the room and watch TV.
Freckles: Good idea. Maybe ther's a tennis ball under the bed that I can bark at.
And so ends the journey to the Big Apple. Very Happy
