My 11 year old son came home from school today with a book that his class is reading called "Beasts Fact and Fiction" (written by. Stewart Ross) he handed me the book and he was so angry! He says mom just look at this! He went on to show me the story of the legendary hound of Baskervilles and on that page is a huge picture of a snarling drooling Pit Bull and it this is exactly how it reads.
Quote:
"Horrible Hounds"
The legendary Hound of Baskervilles was a hound-mastiff cross. Most real dogs are friendly, but the vicious pitbull terrier has been known to attack and kill for no obvious reason.

My son said when the story was read out loud in class he raised his hand and said to his teacher excuse me but that is not true. And his teacher reply was "Yes it is true have you never heard the news stories surrounding these dogs." My son then said well my mom and dad own three and their great dogs she said well we will discuss that later.

Oh yes indeed we will! I have contacted the principal and the teacher and we are having a meeting concerning their curriculum choice I hope
they are prepared for a little American Pit Bull Terrier 101.

You know, I have been thinking about this teacher and her bad teaching manners. I am wondering if you can get permission from the principal to bring one of your dogs to school for show & Tell???
It would be a great way to get positive publicity about pitbulls and put the teacher in her proper place (stomped on the ground)

You realize you HAVE To keep us updated on this crock!!! New teacher I suspect and BAD choice of reading material... I'll see if I can find out what the site is but there's a site devoted to kids and dogs and safety....not Breed specific by any means...but might be a good thing to show this teacher and any others who are concerned about children's safety around dogs... Just a thought...let me know...

I can't beleive this!
